I want to speak to what's painful and hold what's precious. And invite us to connect to this land. This land is and was in deep relationship with the Chinook, Multnomah, Clackamas, Walla Walla and Kalapuya peoples. May all who walk here feed praise and recognition to these ancestors of the land, and to their descendants who walk among us and may be us. May we all honorably welcome this wisdom and truth in our decision-making, inseparable from the land. And bring our healing hands and fierce hearts to the violence and disruption that continues to this day due to the colonization that many of our ancestors participated in. May we feed ourselves and each other nourishment so our minds, bodies and souls are resilient for this work. And may we not forget our collective and personal power to change the story. It is not over.
